A major fire has broken out at Nottingham station, closing the station.
Reports suggest the fire broke out at around 06.30 and that it may have started in a toilet in the new area of the station. East Midlands Trains has confirmed no staff or passengers were injured.
Fire crews from both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire fire services tackled the blaze, which is understood to have spread through the concourse and to the roof. The station was redeveloped recently, including a major remodelling of the layout around the station during summer 2013.
The fire has caused major disruption to East Midlands Trains services, with the station expected to be closed for the whole of Friday 12 January. CrossCountry services to Birmingham are terminating at Derby, while Northern services are affected by industrial action by the RMT Union.
