The first Class 777 EMU for Merseyrail has left Stadler’s factory and moved to the Wildenrath test track in Germany for testing.

The manufacturer is building 52×4-car EMUs, ordered by Merseytravel. The first train has undergone static testing and is moving to Wildenrath for dynamic testing at up to 75mph, covering aspects such as braking points and electromagnetic radiation. The first train is due to arrive in the UK in December, where it will be stabled at Kirkdale depot as a base for further testing and driver training. The first train is due into passenger service next year.
